Alex Barnett has posted a new blog about an e-book on RSS and Marketing he has been involved with.
This subject is definately picking up steam. I hope the e-book goes into more than the superficial ideas that are usually associated with the topic. I am getting tired of (yawn) “RSS will kill email” etc.
Fact is, this is a subject for the future for most industries. We are not yet at the stage where my Mum reads RSS. That day will come before you know it (my Dads blog is coming soon!).
While RSS is great, I think the biggest benefit is the ClueTrain Effect – you are communicating directly with your audience/users/prospects on their terms. People get it because they want it when they want it, because they want to hear what you have to say! The other great thing is that it is pulled from the server and therefore more opportunities exist for tracking.
I will probably buy the e-book out of interest, it’s only like £20 or something. Of course I am not one to keep my opinions to myself so I will let you know what I think about it if I do
