Low standards has its advantages

New Chair, originally uploaded by chrisgarrett.

One of the (many) things that frustrate Clare about me is my lack of care about appearances. Really, I am not that fussed about how most things look. I’m a function over form kinda guy in a lot of things.

Most of the time this just causes annoyance for Clare but yesterday it saved me about £50 :)

You see nobody else was buying this ugly yellow/green version of my new office chair so Ikea priced it to sell. Lots of people bought the identical but grey or black version but apparently it being a puky yellow/green makes it less appropriate to plant your ass on for other people.

Me, I thought “who cares what it looks like, let’s buy it”.

Other people might have thought to check it matches the décor. I wouldn’t even know how.

One of the many joys of being me :)

I’m impressed, you managed to fight your way into an Ikea store. There was probably less jostling at the Battle of Agincourt than at your local Ikea store of a Saturday afternoon.

Being that we’ve never lived in a home of our own (always corporate housing), we’ve learned to turn a blind eye to our furniture. As long as it works, is relatively clean, and isn’t dangerous, we’re cool with it. So congratulations on an excellent buy!

BTW, what does this number mean in your post description?

@Jack – One of the advantages of going on a week day, it was a small riot rather than a full on conflict :)

@Hsien – It’s a time stamp, but a meaningless one. I was messing around one day and left it half done :)

I hope not – The old chair was leather-effect so I hope this one is actually *cooler* than the last one :P
