It seems my long-suffering relationship with Microsoft has passed a new milestone, I just un-installed Visual Studio from my laptop!
While I haven’t turned my back on ASP.NET completely, it is now over 8 months since I did any coding in a Microsoft environment whereas due to Performancing work have dabbled quite a bit in PHP (I recommend the Zend IDE by the way, it’s no Visual Studio but is quite nice).
My laptop is a bit of a wimp, particularly in the storage department so when it came to making space I had to decide what was going to get removed. Turns out Visual Studio was my least used big-assed app. Off it comes.
