I have learned a little more about facebook. I’m still not sure what it is good for but other folks seem to be getting something out of it because there is a heckuvalot of activity on there.
There seems to be a whole bunch of unwritten rules. One I broke almost right away was you are not supposed to write on your own wall. Doesn’t make sense, how can people follow a conversation by reading only one side? Bizarre. Should I break convention and make myself look an ass while making it easier for the non-cool kids to actually make sense of it?
Yet another reason for me to give up on it. If to be “cool” you have to learn some dumb ass secret handshake giggle-behind-your-hands crapola I am not sure I want to be part of it. I didn’t hang with the cool kids in the playground, I am certainly not going to try to start now.
On the plus side, a bunch of people have marked me as a friend and more importantly I have had some warm welcomes, this actual social stuff makes up for the faux social stuff

It’s fairly simple – reply on the other person’s wall and click “wall-to-wall” to see the complete conversation.
Yup I did actually work that out but … should we have to “work it out”? Or wouldn’t it be more obvious for the conversation to be just there?
I don’t know … I tend to use private messages for most things because the wall is just a bit too … rubbish. Still, I find the whole site rather good. Best bit for me is how easy it makes it to keep up to date with a lot of people, without needing to phone them all the time.
Yeah I think I will end up using the friends feature like I do twitter and flickr, people I want to follow
I can’t even reliably find my wall most of the time.
Sigh.
Yeah I only see mine when someone adds a comment …
