So it seems Canada has been knocked out of the Winter Olympics Ice hockey by Russia. Not a bad team to lose to but a kick in the nuts all the same.
I only managed to catch the highlights (low lights) as I was working until some ungodly hour this morning (which I am sure doubled the anguish at seeing my side crash and burn).
Talking of “my side” … People here think it odd that I support Canada but live in the UK and have done for 99% of my life. It’s not as you might think because of my Canadian birth certificate, it’s a personal and concious choice. If you choose to associate with a country I think the bond is stronger than if you have it thrust apon you. For at least the last 20 or so years I have grown to dislike this country more also. Makes perfect sense to me, I have both the attraction of Canada and the revulsion of England.
Back to the hockey, we are in Calgary early april so hope to see some games. If anyone is in the area and interested in showing a wannabe Calgarian around a hockey game give me a shout!
